Most popular Zildjian

Which of these series are the most popular? Zildjian A, Zildjian A Custom, Zildjian K, or Zildjian K Custom?

I don't know the answer to that question but if I had to guess I would think the A Customs are the most popular.

I would guess either the A customs or the K customs.

I really don't know though

It seems like nobody does. I think I read that A custom or A. I think K's are maybe only good for hi-hats and maybe ride cymbals.

Re: Most popular Zildjian

The best suggestion is go to a well stocked percussion store (such as Atlanta Pro Percussion) and let your ear and body be the judge. Don't get fixated on a brand or series.

The last ride I purchased, I tried out almost 50 different cymbals for a variety of sounds, narrowed it down to 15-20, then tried out each on a set. I ended up with 3 I was impressed with and chose 22" Paiste Signature Traditional.

Take several different pairs of your sticks (and/or brushes, mallets, etc) and see how the cymbal(s) respond.

Good Luck!

In my years of drumming, I've seen more "A" Customs than any other.

drumtech is absolutely correct, nice post.

Now if this is purely a curiosity type of thing then I would shoot Zildjian an email or even call and ask them. I can't imagine why they wouldn't be happy to tell you which is their best selling line.

For some reason, I seem to like Zildjian and only use them. I just for some reason do. It is a curiosity thing and I think I should do that.

Re: Most popular Zildjian

I sent a email to Zildjian.com. This is what they said:

Thanks for your email.
A & A Custom might sell more in volume based on the fact that they cover more genres of music.
Natural, full bodied & bright cymbals good for jazz, funk, pop, rock, etcetera.
Other lines such as K & K Custom might favor the jazz, Latin & light op genres as they are darker, and more complex!

Regards,
Steve @ Z Care
