How to Replace a Zildjian Cymbal under a Lifetime Warranty

Zildjian Cymbals have warranties against manufacturers defects.
The Zildjian corporation is an international cymbal company and the world's oldest active drum cymbal producer. Their cymbals are made of an amalgamation of metals and produced on a lathe. Zildjian offers warranties with every purchase as long as the cymbals were not put to unnecessary abuse. An extended warranty can be purchased for the cymbals from major music stores, which can make the cymbal replaceable for its entire life.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

things you'll need:
Receipt of purchase
Flat shipping box
Packaging
Tape
1
Inspect the break in the cymbal for signs that the break may be caused by abuse. Search the middle hole of the cymbal for signs that the cymbal was mounted without a protective sleeve, such as sunburst cracking from the hole. The warranty is void if the cymbal shows cracks or other damage from abuse. Use a piece of tape to signify where the damage is on the cymbal by placing a small strip next to the crack or break.

2
Call the Zildjian company at 781-871-2200 and request a return authorization number from the operator. Place the cymbal in a flat shipping box and stuff the packaging around it so that the cymbal does not receive further damage. Include in the box a note of how the damage happened, a return mailing address, contact phone number and a photocopy of the original receipt of sale with the return authorization number written on it.

3
Write the address of the Zildjian warehouse clearly on both the box and the attached shipping label:

Avedis Zildjian Company

(write the Return Authorization number here)

22 Longwater Drive

Norwell, MA 02061

USA

Ship the box using the post office or a private shipping company such as UPS.

4
For extended warranty coverage from an independent music store, simply bring the cymbal and the original receipt (with both cymbal and warranty information) to the store and show the cymbal to a clerk. Explain the damage, and receive a replacement.

Re: Broken cracked cymbals what to do

My lovely Paiste Signature 19" crash sits mournfully with a 1" crack at edge. Tried drilling small hole at first, but it didn't stop the run. I'm going to just cut out that area with either hole saw or hammer/chisel and see what I have left so far as sound.

I hated losing that cymbal; it went so well w. its smaller sister, a 17" Paiste Sig crash. I've since moved on to new set of Zldn A Customs, but keep the Paistes for practice studio.

Anyone with experience cutting cymbals, feel free... .

Hi Tamajama,

send me a pic of your crack (LOL) and if you can send it to me in north london we may be able to save her with minimal charactor loss.
