Re: Zildjian "Planet Z" cymbals...

I have a 16" crash, a 14" hi-hat, and a 20" ride from Planet Z. The crash is very loud and trashy, with a long decay, something like a china cymbal. The ride is very quiet, too quiet for my taste, but you may like it. The hi-hats are very good, and have a clean, crisp "chick".

Also, they have a long lifespan. I've had my ride, crash, and hi-hats for about 3 years. However, I got the crash used, and it has only one crack in it. The previous owner had the cymbal for years longer than I did.

They have an excellent price. I got my hi-hat, ride, and crash for $160.00, total.

I believe that one should start out with Planet Z's and maybe use them in the future for practice. They're great for beginners, but I wouldn't reccomend them at a gig. They're probably best in rock, metal, and other loud music.

Even if you're not a paiste fan, I'd go for the pst5's for a beginner cymbal. I've tried many different cheapie cymbals and they win hands down in that category.

Next I'd say sabian b8's, but planet Z's are just no good. I've tried many stagg cymbals that sounded better than those.
