Re: china choice?

For a bright, short sustain (ring), I'd say the Zildjian.

Re: china choice?

Look into the metal-x Ozone crash. It's not a china, but it produces a sound very similar and depending on how much you tighten down the top you can get that short sustain you're looking for. If you really want is a china get a 16in sabian AA. The smaller the cymbal the shorter the sustain, but it will be brighter than a larger version. Check out other brands too, I'm just telling you based on what I use that might fit your needs. Happy Hunting!!

I have Zildjian 17" K Custom Dark China, it is a good cymbal.

Get the one that sounds best to you.

I have a paiste alpha "18 china, It's been with me for over a decade and still sounds amazing. I use it for Hard rock, hardcore punk, and metal and I've had engineers comment on its great sound.

Re: china choice?

I finally decided on the zildjian 16" oriental china. No chinas really compared to that in the end, the overtones that were coming of of that thing were just beautiful. Another one i really liked while i was at the store was the sabian hhx 14" evolution china, it was small but with a really nice cut and short sustain.

I've got a 22" 2002. Bought it second hand. The guy said it's a relic from the 70's. Sounds like a freakin gong.
