I have been playing
Paiste since I started. That is after my first set of Stage hi-hats which would crack and pop inside out if my pinky rested on the pedal.
I began with a full set of 402 nickel silver. They were thick and cracked pretty easily by comparison but I found the step up (502) too thin and washy.
When I got some funds together, I slowly built up the range I have today. I've found the 802's (no longer available) were very good quality for the price ( I've had those crashes for about two years) the alpha's are esentially the same make with a better range but I've found them to be very pleasing and hardwearing (I've had my 18" china for about 5 years and it sounds great).
As for endorsers John Bohnam played 2002's, Danny Carey plays a selection of
paiste's, Joey Jordison tours with Rudes and records with a mix of
paiste and
meinl, David Silvera used to play with Rudes but moved on to signature. Typically
paiste's produce a darker sound than their conterparts, hence they are enjoyed by more metal artists.
