OK. I'll try but remember that it's just a cheap mic I have plugged into the computer. These are Paiste Signature 20" & 22" Dry Heavy Rides.

Beginners: garbage can lid

Professional: garbage can lid

I have been playing since 1968. I have had my share of Zildjians and his brother that defected to Canada, S.A.B.I.A.N. You guys will be wasting your money. Please save a little and get Paiste signatures. I'm not a dealer but a guy that wishes you don't make the same mistake I did. Sound Formula is the same alloy as sig's but made in Germany to save money. In the 70's, I used to spend hours at the music store banging on each Zildjian hoping I could find a match to what I have. "I wonder why Steve Smith lived across the street from the Zildjian factory". I have sig's that are cracked and sound perfect. I bought then that way so I wouldn't pawn them. I fell like your DAD but I don't want to preach at you guys/gals. I was there. I just think the lower cymbals are junk and they target the youngsters.

So basically, you're saying that we shouldn't waste on money on lower end Zildjians and Sabians and should go straight to the Paiste Signatures?

Alrighty Paiste dudes im looking to you! Can somebody give me any info on the Paiste dimensions line? It appears they aren't producing them anymore. I found a good deal on a crash and Im wondering how they are in terms of quality compared to other paiste lines.

I think you should definitely consider trying out or buying/purchasing Paiste signatures, dimensions and such. They tend to have great sound, durability and what have you. Paiste makes great cymbals! Dimensions tend to sound crisp, sweet, clear and ethereal. Very nice, in fact. I hear sound formulas are good as well. My friend actually has an 802 (I think it's an 802) china that sounds incredible!

My 18"china is an alpha, which is pretty much the same as 802's and I've had sound guys comment on how good it sounds. And I haven't had a crack in 6 years.

I've played a kit with Paiste before, although I didn't get to find out what line. They sounded great. The 14" crash had a higher-pitched bash sound, that lasted for a while, followed by darker overtones. the 12" was bright, quick and to the point, it cut more than crash. The ride sounded great, and was a lot cleaner than the hi-hat, which was mediocre in sound, but it had a great chick when clamped.

John Bonham used Paiste 2000 series I believe.

personally i think, if you're strict on budget. the Pst 5's give you enough range.
