Wuhan , Istanbul. Any good?

Okay, so I've thrown in my two cents regarding Paiste, I'm asking any of you about the quality of eastern cymbal companies you may be familiar with.

Wuhan and Istanbul in specific seem to be resonable quality cymbals however the price of these would suggest they're either too good to be true or I should freaking well convert.

Sound, durability, comparison, let me know your thoughts on these diamonds in the rough.

Wuhan S series are OK cymbals, hand-hammered but no constant sound, I heard good things though, but the traditional one is worst.

Istanbul cymbals are the equivalent of Zildjian K's or Sabian HH but without the price tag. There's two istanbul series with distinct ownership - Agop and Mehmet. Both qualities are excellent but agop are more expensive... Both are really good cymbals made by what we call cymbalsmith.

Then there's the Bosphorus - Turkish - TRX and the MEINL Byzance which are made in Turky and are excellent cymbals. I think for the small country they are, Turk are making the cream of cymbals

I'm with mind_drummer, in my opinion the best cymbals are currently coming out of Turkey. Istanbul Agops are seriously beautiful, my top recommendation being the trad dark crashes. Mehmets are lovely too, and Bosphorus are just amazing. You don't need to shell out masses of cash to get great sounds. Generally speaking I'd take Istanbul over Zildjian any day. (with a few exceptions, you get the idea though.)

Have you checked out http://www.cymbalsonly.com ? Have a listen to some sound files to see what I mean.

When you say worst, do you mean poor quality or just not as good?

I know for a fact that Wuhan makes good China's, but other than that, I wouldn't particularly go for them.

I love my Istanbul Agop Dark Crash and chose it over a Zildian K in the store (and it wasn't that much cheaper). They are great sounding cymbals, If you get a chance try some out for yourself. They may not be the sound you're going for but they are a serious cymbal worthy of consideration. I don't have any experience with the Wuhan's so I can't help you their, I do know that Wuhan cymbals are made in the Wuhan provide of China while the Istanbul's are Turkish made in the factory that Zildian used to use? I'm not saying that Wuhan's may not be a good cymbal, they just don't come from the same place, I have heard great things about their China Cymbals which shouldn't surprise since they are made in China.
