Your Favorite Crash

My favorite has got to be the new K custom hybrid crashes. They sound amazing. I think they took the lathed/unlathed approach from some of the Istanbul or bosphorus lines though... Also, I've always been a fan of the A custom projection crashes, they have that "all-around" sound that fits in with most musical situations. So, what crash is at the top of your list?

By a long shot it's the Istanbul 18" Trad Dark Crash. Absolutely beautiful sound, perfect attack that backs off to reveal a subtle wash that seems to linger but not outstay its welcome.

Would love to get my sticks on a K Custom Hybrid, and a Paiste Dark Energy or two.

I had an A Custom Projection but never really felt that it cut the mustard, a bit characterless in my opinion.

I stumbled across a used 17" DE Mk. I crash in a store a few weeks ago, and it took about three seconds for me to decide that it was coming home with me. Great cymbal - and definitely my favorite crash. It has some of that hand-hammered "warmth," but with more shimmer to the sound than the Paiste Traditionals I've owned and played.

Looks like you all are fans of the dark hand-hammered type of cymbals. For me, I like my Zildian A thin crash. It goes well with the type of music I play and is very versatile with all different kinds of styles. I still haven't gotten sick of the sound yet, which is saying a lot.

I got a set of Z customs a few years ago and now I can not imagine not using them in my set up ever again.
they are so great and just have this great sustain that just go's on forever.

My friend swears by Z customs. Everyone says they sound like hunks of metal, but they sound fantastic on his kit. When I asked him about his mega bell ride he said, "Every drummer should have one."

Robbie, you could open up a cymbal shop if you wanted to with that collection. Do you use them all in the same set up?
Sabian and Zildjian are basically the same company in terms of how they manufacture their cymbals.
