cleaning your cymbals

I have negleted my cymbals long enough and i finally cleaned them this weekend.
It was not an easy task as to the fact that they have not been cleaned in years and were looking really bad.

I used a product called never dull. it comes in a can and it is a wadding instead of a past or somthing like that, it takes a lot of the grime right off and isnt all that hard to buff out but it was still a lot of hard work. the last thing I sared on but only got one cymbal was taking my dremal with a buffing pad to it and it maked the Z custom almost look brand new.

Is there anyting you can put on them that acts like the factory coating to keep the shine on there longer?

I dont know of anything you can put on a cymbal to keep the shine, but Im currently looking for a stronger cymbal cleaner....I have the Zildjian brand cleaner, and you really gotta work that stuff in.

I highly recomend the never dull if you can find it. you dont have to have anything to put it on just a rag to buff it out and it really isnt that hard to do.
you really dont have to work all that hard with it, it just gets tiresom after a while when you have a large surfice area.

let me put it this way have you ever seen how shiny millitary brass is on a ship or base or somthing, that is what the military uses to clean and polis brass so I would look for it. I like it because it isnt as messy as the other cleaners.

Groove Juice is excellent. I used to use Blue Magic Metal cleaner which is completely non abrasive but I was losing 15lbs everytime I cleaned my cymbals!! Way too much work, but they were like new. Then I here of this stuff called Groove Juice. I bought a bottle of it, and to my surprise ( and relief) it worked great!!! Just spray it on let it sit for a couple of minutes and 30 years of crud will rinse right off a quality vintage cymbal!! Then I go over them with a car polish .... not a wax.... there is a difference. That polish seems to make it harder to leave finger prints and keeps them shiny for quite awhile. Next time you go to clean your cymbals, give it a shot. It's about $10 for a bottle. Oh by the way ..... DO NOT USE THIS ON CHEAP CYMBALS!!!!!! NOT GOOD!!!!

I had purchased it at Guitar Center but I am starting to see it more and more at nearly all music stores.
