Cymbal "Metamorphasis"

One of the reasons I dont clean my K's is that someone told me as a cymbal builds up dirt (or patina) the sound changes. You'll notice this in older cymbals, they have that "dull" looking finish to them...I've even heard of people burying cymbals to try to speed up the patina process.
So anybody ever buried a cymbal? Or has anybody ever noticed a change in their cymbals over time?

Yeah, I've deffinately noticed a difference in mine, but I find they sound brighter with a good polish.

I've heard you're supposed to buy "dry" cymbals as the sound becomes less dry with age.

Less dry? I would think that over time a cymbal would sound drier. But I could be wrong with my logic.
