Arrow Can I get some opinions on this set up?

I was wondering if I could get some opinions on this cymbal set-up. I am upgrading from my rock ZXTs to a more "all around" sound.
1. 13 in. K custom dark hi hats
2. 24 in. A medium ride
3. 16 in. A medium crash-brilliant finish-
4. 20 in. A custom china
5. 16 in. A zildjian and Cie vintage crash
6. 10 in. A splash-billiant finish-
7. 22 in. K constantinople hi bell thin ride, high(not sure though its over $400)
8. 15 in. K dark crash thin

I wont be doing any cymbal bashing with these. I know this will cost ALOT of money so I am gonna buy the cymbals one at a time. -Thanks-

first off what kind of music are you going to play? also what cymbal characteristics are you looking for (dark, bright, long sustain, short sustain,)

Im just looking for a good set-up for all styles of music (except for maybe death metal.) And for cymbals, I like ones that are bright with long sustain.

that sounds like a good set up.
I think the only thing that I would look at changing is the HH and those rides.

I would probably stick with the standered 14" HH and to get a really versitile sound out of them I would go with the A/K mix were you have a A or K on top and the oppeset on the bottom.
and I would probably try and stay away from thos huge rides, and stick with a 20". 22" at the biggest but that 24" unless you are going to be playing a huge area where you dont think that the ride will be heard or some kind of special music that requires a really loud ride I would stay away from something that big, if you are just looking for the raw sound that a lot of those big rides produce just get a Zcustom and I bet you will get close to the same sound.

Also the other problom with that ride is that it is hard to find a case that go's over 22" so you have to find another way to transport it safely.
And I guess the last thing is do you have a need to have 2 rides on your set up?
I had 2 on mine here not to long ago and it really didnt do a whole lot for me because I just didnt have a reason to have 2, so unless you really need them for now save your money and get a crash or somthing.
and dont forget those splash's they can be a great help in music, I know you have at least on listed but to me the more the better (I have 3 as of now)

good luck on the great cymbal hunt.

I agree with the ride advise. Who needs two, and so big. I have a Zildjian 16" Medium crash and love it. I replaced my medium thin with it and got a brighter sound with more durability.
