Splash, Splash, I'm take-in' --a --?

The splash cymbals are primarily used for small accents at 4 or 8 bar phrase
ends. Also used to accent phrasing during lead parts, beginning & ending of breaks, fills, etc---
I guess--Just about any dang place you get the urge.

If you're playing Punk I'd suggest getting the china first and the splash later. My splash cost me bugger all, and it's still good after ten years, but my china's are irreplaceable. Just remember to take your fav crash along when you choose your china. It helps if they match. Any china will give you that huge bash with the snare, but a great one will mix in with the swurl of your other cymbals.

The very BEST DEAL on any cymbal is your ear. When you find the one that you like. you will find a way to get it. Trust me. Never look at labels on cymbals.
The ONLY thing that REALLY counts is how they SOUND. No matter how close you get, you can't hear the label--Just the cymbal.

I play similar kinda music, and I would recommend a splash (HHX Legacy 12 inch....<3) lol

the cheep ones can sound "good", the oldest punk band in my neck of the woods, thier drummer uses a couple sabian Xs.
Also in my neck of the woods sabian Xs chinas have became popular.(cheep sound great in metal, from manny drummers ears)

Ummm, honestly I wish I had gotten the splash I was hopin for with my kit, but I didn't. Happily though I got a lil' china that I love. Me personally, if I didn't have a china I'd use a splash for breakdowns and such, both sound insanely BEAUtiful. As for, during rhythm(that doesn't look right). ummm yea, you can easily use a splash or china I guess, I know I do, shoot my china fits with some jazz type songs :P and it sounds good. But if I had to pick between the 2 and not just one, ummm, china cause a splash usually'll break sooner. Atleast it seems like it to me.
