| | I can recomend cymbals, but only you know what you want to hear. Go to your local music store and try a few out.
Also, how much are you willing to spend? Cymbals are an expensive addiction.
That said, I love Sabians. The Metal X series are my absolute fave. My current setup is as follows: 14" AAX metal Hi hats, 21" raw bell dry ride, 14" HH mini china, 10" XS 20 splash, 19" Metal X crash, and a 16" AA medium crash. That 16 is getting replaced with a 17" metal X when I get the cash. |

| | | I totally agree with pyro's first comment. Names and brands are irrelevant. Just get into your store and start hitting stuff. Talk to the guys at the counter and they should help you set them up on a kit for you so you can put a set together. Even if you don't find what you can afford straight away, the store people should help you find alternatives to what you've picked. You're giving them alot of money, make them work for it. |

| | Depends on what your playing requirement is and will be not that you may know what is around the corner.
Sometimes it's good to get versatile cymbals that cover many genres of music.
For this i would ballpark as general use to cover most situations Zildjian A Customs, Paiste Signatures, Sabian AAX and perhaps Meinl Byzance.
Of course it is going to come down to how much $ you have in your hot hand as well. Patience and plenty of research will assist with your choices. |

| | | If brands were really an issue, I'd suggest Bosophorous. I just replaced two Zildjan bronze (one 15" and one 18") with 15" and 17" Bosophorous traditionals. There brighter, but nice a crisp and pure "cymbal sounding" if that makes any sense. Though if I were playing punk or metal, I'd have stuck with what I had. It's what the music demands AND your taste. Just let price tags be the only thing limiting thing and, at that, only an upper limit. (Don't go cheap just 'cause you can save a bit and spend it on something that's not as important) |
