Re: Help! Zildjian or Sabian

I've never heard of Turkmasters. Tell me about them, and how you heard of them. I travel a lot and stop at a lot of different music stores. I've not run accross them yet. Do they have a website?

Thanks for the help.

Re: Help! Zildjian or Sabian

OK Turk Masters has an American cymbal tech that is one of the top in the world. (Their words not mine.) I actually believe this. They are hand made in Turkey by the top Turkish cymbal masters in the world. I went to a drum clinic a couple years ago where a representative of another Turkish cymbal company brought stacks of Turkish cymbals for us to try out. My Turk Master cymbals were made at the same place by the same people but were louder, clearer and 75% better overall. The reason was they were made to company speculations by a modern cymbal tech combined with ancient skill and quality.
As a Turk Master Endorsee I would take my cymbals to concerts and let other drummers try them out live on stage. There is an elite group of drummers that will tell you in a heart beat that my cymbal collection is the very finest they have ever played. My friend Linda Waring the legendary female drummer of distention known as Fancy Pants and drummer for Texas legend Bugs Henderson and a member of The Rock Hall of Fame is one, my buddy Mark Hamilton of The Dead Pyrates Society is another, Legendary drummer Freddy Steady is one , Cedric Goodman drummer for Chant is another, David Kemper, former grateful Dead and Bob Dylan’s drummer not only loved my cymbal collection, he wanted some like them, that have all played my Turk Masters, there are many more that have played my cymbals, others already have their own like M of Analogmissionary Band. These are the finest I have ever had or owned, bar none! You can only buy then direct from the company.

Re: Help! Zildjian or Sabian

I have a pretty serious cymbal collection myself. Calling any one cymbal line the "best" seems like hype. There are times my Zildjian "K"s or "A"s are great for a situation. My Paiste 2002s or Signatures are also great cymbals for certain types of music. I'm open minded to different brands, but I find it hard to beleive that any cymbal is the "best" for all music. You said that they are avalible only directly from the company. Do they have a website? How do you reach the company?

Re: Help! Zildjian or Sabian

I've been playing Zildjian for some time now and they've never failed me, but it's really a matter of personal preference and what you can afford right now. Just remember that they make cymbals everyday in all of the factories; it's not like you'll run across once in a lifetime deals (unless it has the words "limited edition" accompanying it. lol).

In short, buy whatever you feel most comfortable buying; if you don't like them, you can always sell them off and use the money for something else. It's all about experimenting to find your niche and the sounds that you like.

Re: Help! Zildjian or Sabian

Cymbals are a personal decision. My reason for not owning any Sabians is simple. I am old enough that began collecting cymbals before there were Sabians. I have nothing against them. I generally keep with one line and buy all of the particular line that I'm interested in. Each line that I've bought have a distinctly different personality. I see Zildjian and Sabian as being very similar, so I don't see a need to duplicate what I already have in Zildjian. I'm interested in collecting the Paiste "Traditional" series next. They are very different from my "A"s, "K"s, Signatures, and 2002s.

Talking Re: Help! Zildjian or Sabian

Im for Sabian so yea...haha

The AAX Series sound AWESOME I love them. My friend uses Zildjian and he has 13" A custom hats, 21" A custom Ride and an 18" A custom crash I think. His ride and hats are nice but I dont like the crash. I have a 15" AAX Crash and It looks and sounds beautiful. I would reccomend the AAX especially since it costs less but you wont be dissapointed.
