Sabian AAX

Aren't they just great? Anyone else use them?

I was torn between gettin the B8 or ZXT from Zildjian, but my god how good i feel now i spent a bit more. I got the 14 inch Stage hats, 16 inch crash, 20 inch ride. Awesome product! So professional! Already i'm looking to expand, i want a second crash but REALLLY don't know which one to get as, not only do sabican offer so much range in models, but even the AAX has such a selection! Anyone else been in my shoes and know what will best suit a work well with my 16"? COnsidering i do play rock and hit quite hard, i was going to get a 17" dark crash however reviews have said its not too grand to get that if your a hard hitter!

Any ideas guys?

Also what is the like most common set up fro the pro's out there. 2 crashes the same size? Or do they normally have say a 16" and a 18" (which incidentally also crossed my mind as an option)!

Veiws?

x

Re: Sabian AAX

I actually like having 17" and 19" crashes when I'm not using two 20" beasts. I remember hearing sound clips of the dark crash on the sabian website and loving it, but cymbals can sound a lot different in person and I haven't tried one in person.

What I can tell you though is that the stage crash and power crashes really impressed me. If you're a heavy hitter, you might like the metal crash as well. I use to play with this guy who was heavily into death metal and nu metal. This guy simply did not know how to hit something at less than full intensity, and the metal crash worked really well for him.

I like having my 14" hats,a 10" splash, a 14" crash, a 16" crash, and either an 18" or 20" dark ride. I also normally use an 18" crash, just for a deeper crash sound. They're all A Customs with the K Custom dark ride.

Re: Sabian AAX

A customs zildjian,
Z custom meduim zildjian,
AAX plosion are some of my personal choices(AAX and Z sound quite simaler)...
i sugest try used... or also try blind folded(not litteraly dont look at the brands cost or type of cymbal, i even like K custom dark crashes) honestly only 20% of my cymbals are new(counting a hi hat as two)...

... hope you get my meaning

Re: Sabian AAX

Have you tried the AAX 18" Explosion crash. I really suggest that. I fell in love when I got the AAX Explosion. It's got a big bell. And such a warm sound. I love the explosions because you don't need to hit it hard to get a nice sound out of it. Try it out at a store around you. I think it would go nicely. Let me know how it goes!

Yeah, I got a 17" Dark Crash. It blends really well with my 18" Explosion.
