Re: So Guys n Gals What are YOUR Favoutite Make of Cymbals?

Well i will be playing with Sabian xs20 when we purachase the taye kit mabey
next month,But i would rather play on pastie traditional's Or mabey the aax by sabian. any way it's not my choice at the church, they get what they want. I thought the drummer has a choice of what Cymbals and drums he/she wants to
be at the church. Not what they heard from other people???

I play Zildjians. I have found that They provide me with every voice that I need when I play.

Re: So Guys n Gals What are YOUR Favoutite Make of Cymbals?

I have aquired over the 30 years i've been playing the following
14" PP MEINL RAKER HI HATS tight dry and a brilliant bell sound
14" ZYLDJIAN ZBT CRASH bright and short
16" ZYLDJIAN K CRASH deeper overtones
16" PAISTE COLOURSOUND BLUE crash brighter overtones
18" PAISTE CRASH/RIDE very loud very crashy very ridey very lovely
20" ZYLDJIAN A ride so smooooooooooooooth.

these work in studio with an old Beverley 6 piece kit
and live with an old Premier kit equally well
i would suggest when buying cymbals try them blindfold. use your ears luke and you will feel the force flow through you.

Hi Guys, and Girls of course.

I have a bit of an eclectic mix at the moment,

Here is my favourite "dream list" all Paiste, all Alpha's, I think the Alpha series is the coolest ever, here it isI am saving up for them)

20" Flat Ride
15" Rock Hats
17" Thin Crash
10" Thin Splash
15" Sensative China.

At the moment I play on Paiste Sound Formula (heavy) hats, those are made from the same alloy as the Signature range, really wonderful versatile hats, but the Alpha's have a bit of an edge I think

Cheers and Happy Drumming,
Harry

Hi Taye drummer,

I have tried the Alpha's in my local drumshop, I always wanted siggies but after hearing the Alpha's my mind was made up.
They are generally a bit cheaper(here in New Zealand) than siggies, which also helps.
What I like about the Alpha range is the diversity within the range.
I looooved the 20" flat ride, but I have to say I am not a very loud drummer, but even though that might be the fact, Alpha's offer, due to their wide range, solutions for every style of music you might want to play.

But, and it has been said before, the best thing is to try them out personally if at all possible, or even better, have somebody else playing them for you!

Also the Alpha's got the looks man!!

Personally I prefer the Paiste's over everything else, not that Zildjan, Sabian etc are no good but I think the Paiste's are just more sophisticated in their sound balance, they also got by far the best and most user friendly website with excellent sound files.
All of what I said before is my personal preference, AGAIN nothing will ever beat trying them or listening to the real thing yourself!

Cheers and Happy Drumming,
Harry

Hi Taye drummer, I have to find that song to listen to as I am not familiar with it, the weather here in New Zealand has been fantastic. I live quite high up at about 36 Sth latitude. We had the best summer ever!! Even now it supposed to be Autum going Winter, it is still great like 18 deg.Cesius (66 F).

Back to the cymbal thread, I tried a Ufip 20" ride in the music shop, I have to say really nice!!

Cheersand happy drumming,

Harry
