Re: ZBT Versus B8

I own a set of ZBT's and I like the sound of them. As a matter of fact, I performed with them just yesterday. I think they're good cymbals. I've never played on the Sabian B8's though, so I can't compare them but I have no complaints about the Zidjian ZBT line.

Re: ZBT Versus B8

On my kit at the moment I use ZBT cymbals: 14" HH, 16" med. Crash, 14" thin crash, 20" ride, 20" china, These were all I could afford at the time and I will be replacing these with either Zildjian K's ( same sizes as above) or Wuhans.

I quite like the ZBT sounds but feel strongly that better quality cymbals are needed.
I also checked out Meinl box sets ( MC's) but decided against them. I reckon the way forward for me personally, is a mix of K's and Wuhans.

I already own a 16" Wuhan thin crash and love it.

Should all fit nicely with the 4 splashes I have.

Can't wait to have all the cash in hand and go off to buy the new cymbals.

I did have some Sabian B8's for a while but didn't like the sounds when they were recorded.

Yea, same here, the ZBT's were all I could afford at the time as well. My set up is the same as yours but I don't have a china. I'd like to get one though. I agree with you, I like the sound of the ZBT's but also feel a need to upgrade. I, myself wouldn't mine upgrading to the A's. I've played on them before and totally love the sound.

Re: ZBT Versus B8

Well since I posted this originally quite a while ago, I've since upgraded to Zildian Ks. For the style of music I play and the smaller venues, I went with 13" zildian K Hi-hats, but I just didn't care for the B-8s at all, just a matter of preference, but I don't like a real bright cymbal which the B-8s are. I prefered the ZBT over the B-8s, and I still own both of those and can compare them side by side. At the time I bought my first set of cymbals the B-8s were what were in my budget, they were OK to get me started but I out grew them pretty quickly.
