ZBT Versus B8 I have been playing Sabian 14" B8 Hi-hats at home, and I inherited a set of ZBT Rock Hi-hats (also 14") that a Fire Department Band I had been directing had to fold this year, because the Fire department Dropped us for financial reasons. The Hi-hats had been used as Marching hand Cymbals, and I discovered them in with the other Band equipment that is taking up space in my house.
Now I know that neither the B8s or the ZBTs are high end Cymbals, but I did some side by side comparison and to me the ZBTs seemed like they were the better sounding of the two set of cymbals. Anyone else compared these two, what were your oppinions? |

Re: ZBT Versus B8 IMO, B8 hats are sexier/crisper/a nice sound all around...cept if they're played open, but their "chick" sound is great for low end cymbals. ZBT's on the other hand...iono, they look nice? The crash sounds nice though from what I can remember...don't remember what the ride sounded like though, and for B8 crash and ride...to "pingy" for my taste. |

Re: ZBT Versus B8 Ive had both hats. I own B8s and Ive used ZBTs. My vote is the B8. They have an overall better sound. More crisp, loud, brighter. The ZBT hats on the other hand sound like garbage can lids on a hi hat stand. I had an old set of free Pearl hi hats that I preferred to use over the ZBTs. |

Re: ZBT Versus B8 Ive used both the zbt 13" hats and the zbt plus 20" ride and there is no comparison to my 14" B8 rock hats and 20" rock ride. b8 definately wins. the zbt crash sounds better than the b8 rock crash though...but the zbt crash also cracks a lot easier. |

Re: ZBT Versus B8 I say B8. I only use Zildjian for a more oriental sound. |

I had the two sets out again, and recompared them. I'm going to keep the ZBT on the set for now, until I find a set of used New Beats in good condition. The ZBT are louder and Crisper sounding that the B8 Hi-hats, have a much better Clink sound when played with the pedal, and are louder when played with a stick. |

Re: ZBT Versus B8 Im just saying the 13 ZBTs are the ones that come in a pack, and the 14 B8s are the ones that come in the sabian pack. Im comparing the two cymbals you get in the pack for the same amount of money. I just dont know how you can compare ZBTs to B8s. I even have a 10" ZBT splash that I got for free and the B8 10" splash sounds way better. Not to mention the ZBT splash is warped, showing how durable it is. |

Re: ZBT Versus B8 Save your money and go Sabian AAX if you like sabian's If not try Paiste's there great but start at the Alpha series. Zildjian"s are over priced for me.Even if i had the money i would not go there,Everybody thinks its the greatest,Put Paiste's has some series to me that will give Zildjian's a run for there money, and Sabian also has some great lines,But if i had to i think i would go with the heavy B-8's then the others.(But again its choice) | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
