Has anyone played Sabian Hand Hammered?

I've been looking for a nice splash and a Sabian Hand Hammered 8" (I think) caught my eye. I was wondering how this cymbal sounds and what genre it would complement, because I have not actually heard the cymbal.

If its not worth buying then do you have any suggestions on a good splash thats not ridiculously priced?

I have used a sabian hand hammered 8 inch splash before and I loved it! It had a real nice attack with hardly any decay.

alright. is it higher or lower than a 10" sabian b8 (if you've played one, at the same time)?

I can't help you with the splash but I can tell you I have a Hand Hammered Classic Ride and it's a great sounding ride cymbal. Strong bell, with a nice ride sound, and it even crashes decently. If you like the sound of the splash and it complements your other cymbals go for it, they are a great series.

Sabian has a sound check on their website. If you cant get to the cymbal that is probably your best bet because what one person thinks sounds good may not be for another.

I have a sabian hand hammered thin crash and i love it. I am not sure how the hand hammered splash would sound. I have an 8in Zildjian avedis splash. I love the way it sounds

One of my friends has an 8 inch HH Splash. It's awesome, very musical, but expensive. I have a Zil A Custom, and it's just as great for a little less dough.

"IF" you can, it's best to pack up the cymbals you have and head to your local music store after you can and verify that they have at least one of each of the cymbals you're considering. ESPECIALLY with hand hammered cymbals, the sound each has can vary by a bit so it's best to set them up on stands in the music store with your own cymbals to see if they compliment what they have.
My last cymbal purchase was some Paiste Twenty series and two 18" crash cymbals I tried has noticable differences in the tone they gave off. One gave off a sound that had a very complimentary interval in tone when match to a 16" Paiste Signature full crash. The other Twenty series 18" crash, while being the same exact model gave off almost the same tone as the signature 16" crash.
So trying them before you buy them, especially with the cymbals you currently have is very important. If your local music store wont allow that, go elsewhere.
