I've auditioning new hi-hats to replace the two entry level sets I have now (a B8 and ZBT set). I prefer darker cymbals for the music I play, my ride is a Sabian HH classic, and my crash is a 16" Istanbul Agop Dark Crash. Because of my preference for Darker cymbals I didn't think I would like 13" hats (I though they would be higher pitched and brighter). I tried a couple of sets that I really like the Zildian K 13", and a Set of Istanbul Mel Lewis 13" hats. Both sets are a little on the pricey side but are just the sound I'm looking for. Anyone else out there use or prefer 13" hats.

I like the 13" much better the sound seems alot brighter and have a nicer sound.
I currently use Sabian AA fusion hats in 13" size....i'm looking to change to 14's again tho anytime now, as soon as I find my 2002 sound edges.....I don't mind the 13's, they just don't have the presence that 14's do when we're playing live
Right now im using my standard S.P. 13 inches. I plan on getting Zilijian 13 inchers.
Shop around and check out Musicians Friend. Try looking for Zilijians. They have

I'm currently using Sabian 13" AAX Studio hats, they are a dryer sound with less volume (the Studio series is toned down a little--perfect for what I do with them) but a real nice "chick" sound and very tight/ They sound great open too--not as hi-pitched as I thought 13's would be...
Hello church drummer it's been a while since we chatted and I just wanted to say hi, and thanks for ur input on the Gretch kit, it's a gr8 sounding kit and records well also. I have been looking into the TD20 Roland kit and I am thoroughly impressed. However, the price needs to come down a bit. Anyhow, let me know what ur up to these days,,,C-YA!

Im thinking of buying 13" Paiste Hats $250 new (well a friends selling it to switch endorsements to Meinl). The thing I like about 13" hats are they can be fast.
HEY CHURCH DRUMMER I once wrote to you about 13" Zildjian K"s if anyone wants a good deal they should look for them on E-BAY I bought MINE THERE BRAND NEW for half price also bought an 18" NEW CHINA TRASH and saved $120.00 on that and a 16" Zildjian K CRASH NEW Saved over $100.00 on that, their's no trick to this you just have to take your time and look it may take a while but unless your in a hurry as you can tell you can save some money.
