Thumbs up Stagg cymbals

For the person looking for affordable cymbals, I give you, Stagg. STAGG MUSIC | Home

Now I had all but given up on these generic can lids, from a jack of all trades music brand, but I found myself trying out a bunch recently with surprising results.

The majority of the crashes were far too dark for me, but they did closely resemble the sabain x20's for almost half the price. Then I hit a "17 DS rock crash and it sounded immaculate. easily would have fit in with any top range zildians. Just a perfect swish. So the crashes aren't consecutively good, but search a little and you might find a gem.

Hi-hats again weren't anything to write home about, but worth trying out for the cost.

But, Chinas, rides and splashes were all of very good sound, especially given the price tag.

If you're in the market for cheapies, give these a try. And check out some of the other gear they make. Cheap hard cases and drum mics!

Re: Stagg cymbals

I may have to give these a listen. If they give a different sound that will mesh with my Wuhan S then I will be all over them. I guess I may never return to Zildjian or Sabian

Re: Stagg cymbals

I'll tell you what In England these cymbals are hudge. Stagg, Wuhan and Dream are gonna be players over the next few years. These aren't the cheapie crap chinese cymbals were used too. Wuhan has an upgraded line called the "S " series. I have 2 splashes that are F'n great. Dream's sound sweet I have'nt really had a chance to listen to any Staggs but alot of people speak highly of them. All three brands I mentioned are using B20 brass and all are Handmade. What your seeing is the begining of Chinese cymbal makers looking to move into higher end cymbal market. As a consumer It will only benefit us either the big three cut prices to compete with the chinese or loose market share.
