how much are my cymbals worth

ok, i have 3 cymbals for my drumset. to start of with, i have a 16 inch zildjian a series which is used and dull but has no bumps or dents.i also have a pair of 14 inch very old zildjian scimitars heavily used with a few bumps and dents and a lot of stick marks from being hit hard. the last one is is paiste 302 18 inch crash/ride which is in the same condition as my zildjian a series cymbal but a bit more shiny. o and if you can tell me the sell price for all these could you also tell me what would be a good cymbal pack to spend the money on?

thanks
gamerchan

Re: how much are my cymbals worth

To determine the value of you present cymbals I would search E-bay and Craig's list for similar cymbals, and see what they are going for. Used instruments in fair condition, generally sell for about 50% of retail price for a private sale.

As far as cymbal packs go, you may want to avoid the cymbal packs and actually go and play individual cymbals and piece together a set that sounds the way you want them. Most of the cymbal packs I've seen are for the lower end cymbals, that probably wouldn't be an upgrade from what you have now.

What is it about your current cymbals that you don't like? What are you looking for in a cymbal sound, dark, bright, etc.? That might help us make recommendations for models to try.

You can still get all the same type, and brand without getting one of the Packs, but if you're looking for a pack with a bright Trashey sound, Try out B8 pro, or Zildian ZHT if your on a limited budget. There are many other choices too, best bet is to get to a store and play the actual cymbals you will be buying if you can.

Buying on line is an option, but make sure that you go with a retailer with a good return policy, that will give you some time to evaluate them, and return them if not satisfied. I've bought from Music123 and musiciansfriend and have had good luck with both. I've seen a couple of websites mentioned to specialize in cymbals only you should be able to find them with google.
