Cymbal Talk - WHATS THE BEST OUT THERE?!

Hey...I havent the slightest clue when it comes to cymbals. I got these really CRAPPY starter ones...and the need to be replaced...so im looking for some not too cheap..but not too expensive ones that have that punch....that great end or beginning to a rock fill!

Re: Cymbal Talk - WHATS THE BEST OUT THERE?!

Zildjian: Look into used A and Z customs(I have only bought 2 new cymbals, two were hi- hats!), they are hard to crack, and as rock as you can get! (good for new rock)
Sabian: look into AAX (also good for new rock)

Newer:

Zil: A(not the Newer As) Zildjians, I Honestly don't use them, who knows what you will like!
Sab: AA, or even HH (hand hammered) I use AAs myself, and probably will use HH later on!

My crashes are both AAX (a Plosion and a studio crash) and they both sound spectacular, especially when you consider the relatively low cost. Really its what you like that matters though.

Re: Cymbal Talk - WHATS THE BEST OUT THERE?!

The best cymbal out there is really a preference thing. There are so many factors involved. Do you like a bright cymbal, something darker, something in between, etc. Other considerations are budget, are you going for a contemporary sound, or a traditional jazz sound. Best way to choose is to get to a shop and try a bunch out. There are so many manufacturers out there making a large variety of great cymbals for us to recommend a brand and model to you is really impractical. I'm sure you could find a set of cymbals you like from any of the major manufacturers Zildian, Sabian, Paste, Bosphorus, Istanbul, etc.
