Meinl Generation X Jingle Filter China

I'm looking for an effects cymbal such as china or splash and I saw this innovative and unique cymbal. It got me very interested in it because it has jingles from a tambourine in it and it produces a sound like no other cymbal. I already have a Paiste 15" 2002 Sound Edge Hi-Hat, Zildjian 14" K Dark Thin Crash, Paiste 20" Formula 602 Thin Crash and a Zildjian 20" ZXT Medium Ride.

What can you say about this specific Meinl cymbal? Is Meinl a good brand because i've been keeping an eye for brands other than the ones i already have. BTW, I'm not really good in drums. Maybe this cymbal isn't for amateurs but does it really matter? Also, it has a price tag of $70-$100 depending on the sizes. I have no plan to buy a cymbal for now but I'm planning to buy one in the future.

They do make great effects cymbals.... kind of their bread and butter compared to other brands.

Don't knock doing some things on your own as well. Say buying a less expensive cymbal like wuhan, B8, etc... then take them to a percussion store to be drilled and have jingles installed.
I've thought about doing that with sleigh bells on a china... I don't think I have seen anyone do that yet.

Meinl's are great period in my opinion. That is all I own. Quality is great backed with a 2 year warranty which is hard to beat. Many types of drummers play these cymbals for all sorts of music. While i am not a huge fan of this band check out this Menil setup and the unique sounds .

Also other Menil test videos

YouTube - meinl cymbals

Menil also has their own site as well http://www.meinlcymbals.com/

Menils also have a series called MCS in a pack for roughly 250 and you get like 5 cymbals check out. Just research you will get the sound you want wether that being menil or something else. Good Luck

What is the cymbal this guy hits from 15 secs to 23 sec (better view of the cymbal) in the video above? What is it? splash? or something else? It is on the far left and can be viewed at the time i was talking about 15-23 secs. I like the sound of that cymbal. I don't need size just wondering what category of cymbal like splash or crash? Maybe something different i don't know.

Re: New Topic My Page

The cool thing about Sabian is that you can buy a cymbal, and then send it to them to have rivets put in, refinished, and have the logo reprinted and they pay for shipping! The downside is that they charge up to $40 for it to be done.
