Re: Zildjian Pitch Black Cymbals

Some of us Aka. me don't have the money to be picky, I got stuck with the ZBT cymbal set because they are cheap and the people I play to have got no idea what sounds good or not.

When I stop being lazy and get a job that's when I'll start being picky.

Re: Zildjian Pitch Black Cymbals

i have personaly played them.
in my opinion unlike alot of others, these are actually incredible!
it all depends on what style you are playing. these are really dark and heavy sounding, they tend to be real loud, because that is the style they are supposed to be used for.. loud and heavy. i cant say they are good for every perpose, but if you are like me and love to hit em' hard and rock out like joey jordison from slipknot or avenged sevenfold or things like that, these are SURE to make you happy! im trying to get a hold of em myself but its getting hard to because they run out fast! i would highly recomend them for heavy metal, but honestly, nothing more than that.

To each his own, but honestly even if they ARE good for metal, they are definitely not the best. I would rather play with B8 cymbals, or even brass for that matter!

I agree.. to each their own. I find the PBs to be clangy and very unmusical.. but that's just me!

Re: Zildjian Pitch Black Cymbals

I find B8 very trashy as well, but I would rather use them than Pitch Blacks! Painted cymbals sound terrible, but not as bad as poor quality cymbals. I would never play B8s unless I had to.

Re: Zildjian Pitch Black Cymbals

Actually, If you look at the cymbals closely.. underneath the goth costumery, they are ZHTs; which in my experience are pretty righteous sounding pies. Of all the sheet bronze entry level/budget cymbals from the big 3, the ZHT (read; Zildjian High Tin = B12) have the warmest, most musical sound of them all IMHO. It's just when Zildjian, to appease the death metal market, decided that a coat of rustoleum would sell a few more cymbals- created a clanging, muted fart of a cymbal. They were disco'd in what?? A year or less!?!?

Oh ya, I agree ZHT is a great sounding line. The paint ruins it, thats all there is to it.

Nothing beats Joeys White RUDEs!! His Alphas look more appealing to me, but every Alpha I've used has cracked within 6 months... So I'll still with my RUDEs

Re: Zildjian Pitch Black Cymbals

A few years ago I was in a Guitar Center in Florida as a guest judge for the "Drum-Off" competition. I was hanging out in the drum department about an hour before the event, and overheard a short conversation between a teenage kid and one of the sales guys. It went kinda like this:

Kid: I'm looking for some of those new Silver cymbals from Zildjian.
GC: The Titanium's? Yea, We've got them...
Kid: Awesome!!! What do you think of them?
GC: They look Cool....
Kid: Yea, they do!!! How do they sound?
GC: Uh... They look cool.

...'Nuff said!!!
(He hung out for the Drum-Off, then bought some Alpha's and went home.)
