I need some advice on new cymbals Hey guys, I was wondering what do you think I should upgrade on new cymbals? My goal to upgrade my Accent CS Combo to a PDP X7 should be around Sept, but I don't know how long I should keep my current cymbals (sorry if this question sounds really dumb)
I currently have;
14' Meinl MCS hats
16' Meinl MCS crash (not on right now)
20' Meinl MCS ride
14' Zildjian A Custom crash
17' Zildjian A Projection crash
16' Meinl Classics China
10' Zildjian A Fast Crash
10' Sabian XS20 splash
BTW this is my actual kit, not my dad's that I posted earlier... plus most of those cymbals are his old ones so yeah
I've been playing since august 08', and I'm wondering when should I move to a higher line of cymbals like aa's, a customs, byzances, whatever?
I guess what I'm trying to say is that when is time to hang up the beginner cymbals? When did you guys move on up to higher class cymbals? (Again sorry if this question sounds stupid, I'm not good at asking questions) |

Re: I need some advice on new cymbals Its hard for someone else to request cymbals for you. It all depends on the style of music you play. what style do you play? maybe then i can have a better feel of what you need... |

Is like 1 year a good time to upgrade cymbals? |

Re: I need some advice on new cymbals There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers. You know when to upgrade your cymbals when the ones you have don't put out what your ears want to hear.
If your not happy with the ones you got, it's not like getting attached to them. You are beginning to expand your horizons. Get your new cymbals when you are ready. Some of the drummers will tell you what they like but if you go to the drum shops and try some cymbals, your hearing will be the final judge.
Godd luck and Happy cymbal shopping. Keep on drumming. |

Re: I need some advice on new cymbals there is really no set time frame for when you should upgrade. you upgrade when your ears mature or figure out what sound you want. but, upgraded meinl's should be good for your sound. I'm not too sure because i use zildjians...do a lot of research |

Re: I need some advice on new cymbals Go into say Guitar Center and try some cymbals when they sound great compared to what you have and the MAIN thing is that you can AFFORD them then it's time to upgrade, even if it's one at a time don't go overboard and buy what the salesman talks you into, get what you want even if you have to save up for them don't get talked into anything. GET WHAT YOU WANT that way you won't be sorry later on. GOOD LUCK |

Dont ever go chep on ur kit cause u'll regret it. Picking a cymbal has a lot to do with the sound that you want. I would choose Zildjian A custom or Sabian x20. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
