Need to decide on a explosive crash (perferablly Paiste) Hi, I plan on buying a third crash for my kit, (currently 14' zildjian a crash, 17' zildjian a projection crash) and I'm looking to get a Paiste... (trying to get all cymbal brands on my kit :P) I kind of want that Bonham sound on like When the Levee breaks, or in Stairway... if that's even possible
Well if I can't get that kind on Paiste, I'd be open to all brands
Also, I just checked, that Bonham used a 18' 2002 crash for Led Zeppelin IV, does anyone on this forum use that cymbal, if so do you recommend it?
Lastly, is it possible i can get a stand that can mount onto the outside hoop of my bass drum? like the front? because, my space is tight, and I doubt I can buy another stand

Re: Need to decide on a explosive crash (perferablly Paiste) First off, have you tried getting a boom arm and a cymbal stand clamp? you can mount more than one cymbal to your stands with those.
As far as explosive cymbals go, try the Paiste rude series or the sabian Metal X series of cymbals. |

Re: Need to decide on a explosive crash (perferablly Paiste) Gonna have to say either the 16" 2002 Thin Crash and Crash, or the 16" Alpha Thin Crash. |

Re: Need to decide on a explosive crash (perferablly Paiste) Dude, I'd have thought you'd learnt after your last buying experience. When buying cymbals the brand, series, age, everything is irrelevant, except for the sound.
Take your cymbals into as many stores as possible, put them on one of their kits and try every crash in the joint until you find what you're missing.

Re: Need to decide on a explosive crash (perferablly Paiste) No probs man. Good luck. I'll be in the market for a new crash myself. My trustee 18" 802 of about 6 years just up and died on me. Serves me right for letting the guitarist on my kit. |

Re: Need to decide on a explosive crash (perferablly Paiste) No. You didn't.... Man. Guitar players are the worst. They think you "hit" cymbals. No, you "play" them... Pick up his guitar and rake a heavy pick across the strings and watch him cringe in fear.. lol...
But, if you're a Paiste guy, check out the Signature series or the Sound Formula series. Very focused, nice sound.
I have 3 Paiste cymbals, a Signature 16" Fast Crash --Damn I love that cymbal my favorite crash ever hands down-- a 15" Sound Formula Thin crash =--almost a splashy sound, but more cut-- and a 18" Sound Formula Heavy Crash--and it is very heavy with a long sustain and a shimmery decay.
I don't think you can go wrong with Paiste. They are amazing cymbals, but have been just out of reach for me money-wise for some time. I got these used, so I didn't have to spend a small mint to get em... |

Re: Need to decide on a explosive crash (perferablly Paiste) The paiste alpha 18 inch medium crash is a beast, very explosive!
The Kings Of Leon drummer uses Paiste 2002, he has a 24 inch crash methinks. Now that is as explosive as it gets!! | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
