Hi Squildjian, Cymbql,

Exactly! About the balancing, I only found this out recently, after I had the same irritating experience.
Especially when you are playing the cymbals really loose between the felts! (which I do)
Normally it would not matter so much, but with the rivets in a sizzle cymbal you really do not want them sitting on the lower edge.

Having said that, my Zidjian 19" Armand Beautiful Baby Ride keeps the 3 rivets nicely on top, I wonder if the "zildjians" looked into this during manufacturing.

This cymbal is one of my all time favorites, and I only bought it 6 weeks ago for a dream price!

One more for Cymbql , Th Paiste's 101, 201 and the PST 3 series are all brass, no bronze.

Cheers and Happy Drumming,

Harry

Re: Rides

Harry I've got a Zildjian Custom Sizzle Ride 20". Mine is bigger than yours.

Whether the hammering, Smelting or hammering process is used, your right about the metals displacements not ever being equal in it's consistencies.

We used Molecular Steel to repair the old Babcock & Willcox boiler tubes at the old power plant as a temporary fix. But I would like to see an invention to repair cymbals in the same fashion. All in all it would still be an imbalance but a temporary fix is better than nothing.

Your right when it comes to the sizzler cymbals though. To play any cymbal, they still have to be tilted to be able to play them. And with the sizzler, the rivets are not at all balanced on the cymbal unless I use a level to keep them balanced. Even doing a pain staking on the leveling, due to the inconsistncy of the materials used to make them, they will tilt as me mind.
