Talking New Cymbals!!

Well then... Its my birthday, in 5 weeks, so I thought that I could ad some cymbals to my existing set-up. I curently own Paiste alpha 13 inch hats, 16 inch thin crash, 18 inch medium crash, and 20 inch flat ride. I dislike the ride muchly lol.

So I am thinking, shall I save up some money and spend it on better quality cymbals, or just buy more cymbals for less money. Because I don't think i'll realsitically turn pro, so I don't need pro quality cymbals.

I have looked at the ZHT's from Zildjian and like them. I also like the xs20's from sabian, apparently they are now made in brilliant finish, anyone know if this will change the sound? The Istanbul XIST are great too, becuase they are cast B20 cymbals at about paiste alpha prices. Also, stepping up a (few) levels lol, there is the avedis range, which I like the sweet ride, the armand 19 ride, and the crashes. Also the K Crash Rides, and the AAXplosion fast crashes I like. The old Z custom thrash ride is cool, but I'm not sure it would fit my style of music.

And there is also Stagg, but one of the better ranges, like the Vintage Bronze or Classics.

The big question is, should I save for longer and get professional quality cymbals, 'economize' and get semi pro cymbals, or have a mixture....?

Sorry for the long post dudes, any feedback is appreciated.

Peace man

Re: New Cymbals!!

If your looking to get professional grade cymbals, you should save up a bit, my current cymbal set up cost me about 900 bucks, but well worth it. If your really serious about getting new cymbals, you don't have to get them all at once, go to the music store some what early (so you can play them later of course!) and try every cymbal that interests you.

Before I had my current cymbals, I had 'semi-pro cymbals' and I honestly thought it was a waste, I wish I put the money from my MCS's and put it for better cymbals. Even though you think your not gunna turn pro, it's always nice to have nice sounding cymbals right?

I hope this helps, my posts are usually all over the place... if you still don't get something or want to ask, just post away

btw what music do you play?

Re: New Cymbals!!

Thanks man, I'll check some cymbals out at my local shop.

I play a range of stuff, like rock, pop, indie, and a bit of jazz.
