Question Hoping to get a drum set and trying to decide what cymbals to get...

I am going to buy my first drum set when I get the money. I have a bunch of options for cymbals, so I am asking here. I am on a budget. The things I would like to see in the drum set I get are:
  • Under 600$
  • 1 Hi-hat
  • 1 Crash (2, if possible)
  • 1 Ride

I am asking for some help here because I don't know what is good and what isn't.

I have cymbals picked out (and will only spend $275 because I need mutes and shells). Here are some of them, but tell me what you think. (Please link to them, I will bookmark them)

Crash Cymbals:

Paiste PST 3 Crash
Paiste PST 5 Rock Crash
Paiste PST 5 Thin Crash
Sabian HHX Evolution Series O-Zone Crash Cymbal (Not on my budget, but when I get more money)
Zildjian ZHT Fast Crash Cymbal
Zildjian ZXT Thin Crash (14")
Zildjian ZXT Rock Crash Cymbal

Ride Cymbals:

Mainl HCS Ride Cymbal
Paiste PST 3 Ride
Paiste PST 5 Rock Ride
Zildjian ZXT Rock Ride

Hi-Hats:

Meinl HCS Hi-Hat
Paiste PST 3 Hi-Hats
Zildjian ZXT Rock Hi-Hat

I appreciate help on deciding with these cymbals

At that price range have you given buying used? You could maybe set up to a Sabian AA or Paiste alpha more bangs for your buck.
I would also not skimp out on your high hat you will hate cheap hats really quickly.

With that being said, I will want to buy the ZXT Rock Hats, then go for Paistes or Sabians? I'll look at them.

EDIT: Holy crap! AA's are expensive!

Now I can extend my price range to $300 because I found a cheaper set WITH hardware.

The Alphas... *Looks up Alphas* Are kind of expensive. I could afford the crash, but the ride is about 180$ where I looked it up. *Checks a different site* Expensive there, too.

Well, thanks for the help . I will think about the crash but will probably go with a PST 5 Ride

The best advice i could give is listen for yourself. What sounds beautiful to me may very well sound like trash to you, and the other way around.

It might not be a bad idea to spend the good money on a set of hats, and a ride you can crash. You might be able to skip the crash for now, and get the EXACT one you want when you can afford it.

like the man b-4 me said you could get awsome hats and a crashable ride or you could get awsome hats and ride or awsome hats and an awsome crash and wait til your b-day and then get an awsome ride.

Try to find some used pro cymbals. They can cost the same as new not pro cymbals.

I would concentate on getting a good drum set, if they come with cymbals like the Tama Imperialstar that's all you need at the start, especially if you can't tell the difference between what's good and what's not in your own words. What type of music do you want to play? some cymbals may not sound good for the type of music you may want to play? Did you think of that?
Buying cymbals is a Big Expense especially if you don't buy the ones you need but you buy the ones you can afford at the time so just WAIT UNTIL YOU CAN AFFORD THEM

I have to disagree with slingerland on this one. I think that its better to get good cymbals because its easier to make a cheap set sound good with tuning. There's not much you can do with cymbals.

You are obviously very new to drums it's true you can make a cheap set of drums sound good BUT you still have a cheap set of drums plus I said some cymbals may not sound good with the type of music your playing and save your money its better to get what you need than the ones you can afford at the time. Cymbals can cost an easy $600 if your just starting out why not get better drums your thing happens to be better cymbals according to your other posts I've played Pro when I first started and didn't have Zildjian Cymbals and guess what noone knew it they didn't come and see what brand cymbals I was using the music sounded great with my cymbals better yet if you go out somewhere and see a group playing walk over to someone and ask a person watching the band and ask what cymbals the drummer is using I bet he don't know and guess what it don't matter either. Drummers say what kind of Drums do you have NOT what kind of Cymbals do you have. WAKE UP

I'm not saying your wrong I just disagree with you. Its probably best to get what sounds best and whats in your budget. Its probably also easier to sell lower end cymbals than lower end drums
