Passed on a vintage Zildian did I make the right choice

Went into a local Mom and Pop store today that I go in occasionally to buy sticks or other small accessories at. They had an old pretty beat up 60s era kit, that I wasn't all that interested in but it had a Zildian Istanbul Turkish made 18" thin Crash cymbal on it, that had a really warm dark tone that I loved with a lot of wash. I asked him how much he wanted for it and he said $100.00. When I took the felt washer off to inspect it further I was dissapointed to see the cymbal was badly Keyholed and was developing a couple of minute cracks radiating from the keyholing. If it was just slightly keyholed I would have bought it, but the cracks worried me so I passed. Did I make the right choice? I see these cymbals going for much more money than what he was asking, but I'm assuming they aren't in this condition. $100.00 just seemed like a lot of money for a cymbal that I know is eventually going to get worse. I'm not a heavy hitter and could probably get some use out of it before it does go. It just didn't seem like the best use of $100.

Hi Church Dr.

You made the right choice!
When playing a cymbal like that, you feel restricted, you might want to hit it a bit harder but..............
Old cymbals with cracks will be no good investment. If it was $30.- it would be a different story, one would take the risk.

Cheers and Happy Drumming,

Harry
