Some aid for people wanting perfect cymbals...

Hey!

A lot of people post threads about wanting help about choosing a cymbal. They ask what other people use and what they think are the best cymbals for them.

I am by no means coming at you by saying "Buy Zildjian Z Customs!!! They're amazing!" because everyone's taste is different. I myself bought some Zildjian Z Custom 14" Dyno-beat hats'. Simply because John Fred Young (Black Stone Cherry) uses them (I know that because he told me himself XD). This was a massive mistake because I hated them. They really didn't suit me at all. They were really heavy and loud, which I didn't like.

What I did was (And this is what everyone who wants to get the perfect cymbals should do) I went to a ****ing huge drum shop (Which, coming from North Wales is Birmingham for me) and spent about 3 hours playing with different cymbals. This honestly opened my eyes to a lot of different cymbals that I liked. Sabian AA's were the ones I left with.
So in a nutshell, go to a massive drum shop and hit a load of cymbals (Not just alone, but with a kit) until you find ones that make your penis weep.

Another thing to keep in mind is that EVERY cymbal is different. One AA or A Custom will sound different to another. This is fact. So whatever you try out will sound different to the one you get off eBay. This MUST be understood, because lots of people waste money and time this way.

One more tip is to make sure that you check the cymbal you’re getting for signs of damage or signs of cracking. That happens a lot. It happened to me in my earlier days of drumming.

I hope I've helped someone...if you have any questions email me or something (Y)

Regards,
Dan.

awesome way to say it but i know what you mean.

good post, too. its a great idea because it seems like everyone who comes through asking about cymbal choice gets the same advice over and over again, but you probably already know that since you posted it

happy drumming

Please read the rules on this DSC forum. Keep profanity to a minimum.

Of-course the best way to buy cymbals is to try before you buy.

What's your opinion on the Zildjian "New Beat" Hit-hats?
