Cymbal cleaning techniques...?

Alright guys!

It's come to that time again. I'm fed up of seeing some stick marks and other forms of grime on my cymbals.

Does anyone have a good way to clean cymbals and bring back that lovely shine that they used to have? I don't like to use cymbal cleaner much as it left weird markes on my Zildjian Z Custom hats...BAD TIMES!

So get back to me about different ways to clean cymbals and help me to get mine gleaming again

Regards,
Dan.

Re: Cymbal cleaning techniques...?

They do look amazing from the video on the site. Do you know if they actually work though?

Also, how would I be able to get some in the UK?

Regards,
Dan.

I've been using Cymbal Swipes for quite a while now and they are logo friendly as long as you don't over do it as with any other cymbal cleaner.

Bosphorus is one of the most prestigious cymbal making companies around.

Click below to see if this site helps in finding them near you or online. It is still fairly new on the market.

They do look and sound really good!

I can't get hold of any, not for the UK anyway. I'll keep looking.
Thanks very much mate!

Slingerland59, a member of the forum swears by a product called "Groove Juice".

He praises it highly. That one's been around for a long time, but it removes the logo.

Talking Re: Cymbal cleaning techniques...?

I always used a cleaner made by Zildjian & it worked ok. Then I heard of some one using white vinager. Well I just happened to have a bottle at the house & my cymbals were looking really bad. I mixed some warm water and a little vinager together and wiped with a soft rag. I also used a soft scrub brush ( going with the grooves) for the really tough spots. I had all my cymbals cleaned in about 1/2 an hour. I also stayed away from the logos as much as possible, since I wasn't to sure if the vinager would take them off or make them dull looking. Once done, I rinsed them off and dried them real good. They actually came out pretty good.

Groove Juice is an awesome cymbal cleaner! Zildjian and Pistie logos seem to be ok with it, but the Sabian logo will actually run off like water as soon as the groove juice hits it.

Re: Cymbal cleaning techniques...?

Cymbal Swipes are logo friendly as long as your gentle with those areas.

As with any cymbal cleaning products, remember not to over do it. Cymbals have a coating that should not be removed or it will cause them to tarnish.
