AAX or Xs20 Hey! I have the chance to get either an Xs20 16" medium thin crash(new) for $120, or an AAXplosion 18" crash for the same. I really like the sound of the Xs20, but AAX are pro grade, and I don't really want to pass it up. I've heard a 16" AAXplosion. I want a good crash, but with a fast decay. And ideas?
Happy drumming |

Re: AAX or Xs20 These kind of things I think are based off of Personal Preference.
Go with what ever sound you like the best. The AAX is hard to pass up, so try to see how they would sound in your kit.
Is the Xs20 in brilliant finish?
Just try to see what sounds better to you. |

Re: AAX or Xs20 the AAX isnt new, right? if not, how is the condition? probably good.
i say this all the time, but i love my 16" Xs20. one of the best crashes there are, imo. its not a pro cymbal, as you said, and i think mine is special somehow, but Xs20s are great cymbals.
i would go for the AAX, for the reason that you can buy an Xs20 at almost the same price whenever you want, but you may not find a deal on an AAX like that for a long time.
when i read the title of this thread, i intended to respond telling you to get an AAX if you were able to afford it. obviously you can, so thats my advice. |

Re: AAX or Xs20 Yeah man I'd say go for the AAX. XS20's are nice cymbals and all but an AAX for that price? they usually go for 170$ or around there |

Re: AAX or Xs20 Hey man, i have an xs20 medium thin crash and they sound great. but if you want fast decay it may not be the cymbal for you, Id probably go with the AAXplosion crash, it depends what condition they are in. |

Re: AAX or Xs20 Yeah these are tw0 very different sounding cymbals. Depends on whether you want the dark dry sound of the xs20 or the bright cutting temper of the aax.
Dont be afraid to take your cymbals into the shop and compare them with your new purchase. |

Re: AAX or Xs20 Call me crazy, or call me unique in a way, but I went to a music store to pick up some trumpet music, and I also bought some drum sticks. I decided"Hey! Great time to solve this once an for all, maybe." I tried them both out(along with some other awesome cymbals), and I think I'll get the Xs20 medium thin. Yes, I think the AAXplosion has a great amazing sound. The thing is, the Xs has a sound closer to what I want. Thanks guys! |
