Question My cymbal dilemma!

Hey. I was looking at Sabian AAX and Metal-X cymbals. They seem like the same thing to me. I was wondering what the difference is and which one would be better for Death Metal type drumming. Or maybe even the HH's or HHX's are good? Please help me!

HHX's are relatively good cymbals for metal.
AAX's are really nice too.
I guess it would come down to what ever you think sounds best and what your budget would allow.
They are all very nice cymbals and would make you really happy.
Do you have any other choices in mind?

If your a hard hitter like most metal drummers are you should look at the thicker cymbals. I'm pretty sure the metal-x cymbals are thicker then the AAX's so they would last you longer. If you want a darker sound I would go for the HH or HHX's

Re: My cymbal dilemma!

Id look at the HH rock ride (if you're buying a ride) cause thats a real good ride, nice quick sound . its the ride Portnoy uses and it sounds good everywhere.
If i was you id go HHX for crashes , theyre a darker sound and fit better with death metal. . but if you want to be more confused then id look at Chris Adler's lineup see what you like there. If youve got a million bucks you could buy his ride =P thats about how much it is . weighs about a hundred kilos too

What I've heard is get thinner cymbals. People say that this disperses the hit better that thicker cymbals, because they don't "flow" as much(look up a cymbal on a high speed camera, you'll know what I mean)

Re: My cymbal dilemma!

I've always heard apposite drumnoob.. but then again i could be wrong. The guys at guitar center really recommended an extended warranty on a very thin AAX fast crash I got because they are thin and they have broken some themselves. I guess this calls for a little research..

Re: My cymbal dilemma!

Just mix your series and brands, and remember the video.

I could start interviewing endorsed drummers to see their view.
