It's good that you're planning ahead.

Is the S series as far as you can go? Whats your budget, man?

right about now my budget is almost zero as i am refinishing my second drum set and am using my saved up money for supplies. i have like $30 and a lot of change in a piggy bank...and under the couch cushions. i have a B8 ride and an AAX 14 inch china and if i could i was thinking: Wuhan S series 16 inch crash & Meinl HCS 13 inch hi hats. they ar dirt cheap and the reviews i have read say nothing but good things on them.

Re: Wuhan?

Try out sabian SX20 they are made from B20 bronze and are reasonably priced. I havent heard wuhan being good for their crashes only their chinas so I don't know about that crash. I would suggest you only buy something you can try out before hand. If you want good cymbals on a budget XS20 would be the way to go.

Re: Wuhan?

You can try going on youtube.com and look at sound samples of each cymbal, and see how they sound to you, cause that is really what cymbals are all about.

Your budget may get bigger over time, but I don't know if it will get to the XS20's by then. Hi-hats are pretty expensive.
Try considering more expensive options REALISTIC ones.

Re: Wuhan?

Yeah same here.
HCS hats aren't bad. I hope you like their sound.
Hopefully they're not too glassy.
Sabian B8 pro hats have a nice rep, fairly cheap too. They are in brilliant finish too.
Did you check those out?

Re: Wuhan?

I've always had sabians, and like Inferno says, the B8 pros are a great price/performance set. I've had years of playing on those. They sound very clean. Also, very durable. I think sabian has a great 'budget' lineup.

i have found that when people say that they are too glassy or too tinny i love them. i've read so many reviews that say "great cymbal, just too tinny for my tastes" on sabian b8. i have a used 20 inch b8 ride and its so glassy when i use
5a nylon tips yet mellow and warm but still with clear stick definition when i use
2b wood tips. but i think the HCS suffice and who knows i may never want another pair of hats (just spitballin' there). the reviews say that they just get better with age. like fine wine.
