Recommendations?

Hellooo,

Would anyone like to recommend a set of cymbals that would be really good for a punk-rockish sound??? Also, I'm kind of on a budget, but would be willing to save up if it isn't in my price range.

Re: Recommendations?

Sabian XS20's are good for rock and great in terms of price. They use high quality B20 bronze so they sound really nice. Buy Sabian Xs20 Super Cymbal Set with Free 10" Splash and 18" Crash, Brilliant | Cymbal Packs | Musician's Friend
If you have the money go for Sabian AAX for a bright sound or HHX for a darker sound.
Buy Sabian AAX Performance Cymbal Pack | Cymbal Packs | Musician's Friend
As you can tell I am a sabian man always try out want your buying before you buy it cymbals are tricky things to buy
Also buying cymbals individually is the best route, you can match the cymbals up yourself in the store and make your own set of cymbals unique to your setup. I'm currently in the process of doing this.

Re: Recommendations?

If you want to go with Zildjian then, the ZXTs and if you can afford it either Z customs ( if you can find them used) or Z3s.

I've tried the new Z3's out and they sound great, I still like sabian better but if you want zildjian then I would say go for either the Z3's or the A customs.

Re: Recommendations?

Check to see if there is a guitar center near you. If you can't find a store go here MyCymbal.com :: Only Cymbals, Zildjian Constantinople, Sabian HHX, Bosphorus Ride Cymbal, Hammerax Hybrid, Meinl Byzance, Paiste Traditional, K Custom, Prototype Armand Series, Used & Vintage
you can hear the cymbals before you buy so you know what your getting instead of going to musiciansfriend or somewhere like it where you can't hear the cymbal first

Remember If you hit it with a stick and are sooner or later is going to broken, buy cheaper, check out Sabian B8/ Pro, Zildjian ZBT, and Paiste PST.

The punk drummers I have met used a lot of Zildjian As Paiste rudes or alphas and Sabian AAX, check out what your favorite punk drummers use, talk to them at concerts, check out the cymbal sights for their set ups.
Watch out some drummers can be mislabeled as punk but really be metal or plain rock.
