Bosphorus cymbals

I am looking for a nice, heavier ride with a nice jazzy sound. I have been checking out some Stanton Moore videos which suggest that his "Stanton Moore"ride has the sound i am looking for. Does anyone have any recommendations? What about the other Boshorus series, as they seem to be a lot cheaper than the Stanton Moore series.

cheers

Marco

Re: Bosphorus cymbals

In his video on YouTube, I noticed he uses Bosphorus cymbals.

For Jazz playing I use a Zildjian Sizzler. Sounds good to me especially when I play with brushes.

Bosphorus are on the expensive side to begin with. Don't get me wrong there great sounding Cymbals but you pay for it. Stanton Moore is a signature series Cymbal . Any Percussion product with a players name on it is considered a signature series Cymbal, heads, stick's blah, Blah, Blah. Generally they get some kind of royalty deal with the company. Wether it's a flat fee or per unit sold or per hundred units sold. The companies in essence pass on that royalty or fee to you. That's why they are more expensive. T

Re: Bosphorus cymbals

Bosphorus cymbals are hand made.

Anything hand made is more costly, even clothing.

If I was to place anything lower priced than Paiste or Zildjian high end cymbals with my kit, it would be like putting Toyota wheels on a Cadillac.

Re: Bosphorus cymbals

It's al;l about the sound, not about the brand. I have Paiste cymbals to go woth it, which provide a nice crispy sound, but they lack the deeper sound the 22'' Stanton Moore seems to give. I don't know about for instcnce the {Paiste Signature series, whether they can give me a similar sound but I love the sound Stanton Moore creates with it.

Re: Bosphorus cymbals

The reason why I suggested the Zildjian Sizzler is because Mitch Mitchell also used one and it was right enough for my style.

Been drumming 50+ years and that's what works for me.

Remember to always try before you buy. Let your ears be the judge.

Good luck to you on your quest.
