Chinas

Ive been looking to get a china for the past month or so and no luck yet. What would be a good China that would sound good for metal breakdowns, and last me a long time? Im a big fan of Meinl but it doesent matter what it is, also im on a kinda tight budget so hopefully nothing over like $200.

Re: Chinas

Get a wuhan china if you're on a tight budget. Nice trashy sounding china's. You can get a 18" for about $100-$120 online. Or if you want a less metal sounding one, buy the china and splash pack from Solar by Sabian. They're about $160-$200 dollars, but on the plus side, you get an extra splash. And they aren't bad cymbals

Re: Chinas

Wuhan are your best bet for an authentic China/trashy sound. They are super reasonably priced and look very cool to boot. Also Dream cymbals are another consideration.

Re: Chinas

this may be a little late, buut i like the Sabian AAXtreme china. Though wuhan is a good way to go on a budget, if you can gather 30 more bucks, i'd highly reccomend the 19 inch Sabina AAXtreme.

Re: Chinas

I am in agreeance with everyones points here, Wuhan China's are amazing, however unfortunately the only problem that I found with them was that they cracked fairly easily, if your using them in particular for metal (breakdowns and such). Also, in Australia it's fairly difficult to get your hands on them. BandanaDrummer made a good point to, The Sabian AAX-Treme 18" China's are incredible, they have the most freakin' amazing trashy sound that you want in a metal china.

Also, I'd like to add, a cool way of making trashy (not China cymbals, per se) cymbals that CAN be used as China's is using a pair of thin hi hats, like those cheap nasty cymbals that come with kits. i've done that with my kit at the moment, one of them is cracked and got missing chunks, the other has one chunk missing, but is screwed ontop of my Ride and it gives a relatively unique trashy sound, sounds sick. another way of making a cool sounding China imitation is like, drilling holes into it. Like the Sabian O-Zone

I'll stop ranting now. (:
