AAX vs. HHX

High hats.....I have a 16" AAX CRASH that we love and we are upgrading snare/hats.Went to the "SABIAN" site and would really enjoy working input. What does a 14" do over a 13"?And I always look at price and feel there is something special about the HHX series....but AAX is somewhat cheaper.....I need anything for lower"recording"volume...no need for Volume and blast.

The 13" hats will be higher pitched than the 14" ones, as the 14" will be higher than 15".
As always, try before you buy and let your ears decide.

Re: AAX vs. HHX

Hammering methods are different for the AAX and the HHX lines, and this allows them to sound a little different from each other. Your ears must decide what you like. I like the hammered sound for my ride, but I like the machine hammering for my crashes and hats. They charge a little more when a human actually hammers a cymbal.

Re: AAX vs. HHX

I would use AAX for studio work. They are a little thinner than the HHX's and have a bit 'crisper' sound to them. Anything in the HH line is a little thicker and 'darker' in tone. Not like you could go wrong with either, but you asked..

BUDDY.....I could not have hung in there as long as you have waited for a new kit,I know it will be a sweet one and am curious to which one you will go with.I think I will stick with the AAX line of cymbals, and most likely will go with the 14" hats
