Cymbal Appearence, How important ?

I would think it would go without saying the most important factor in purchasing a cymbal is the sound. However there are other criteria that goes into purchasing a Cymbal. Let's not get bogged down here about budget or financials involved. There are several basic types of appearances cymbals have. Traditional , Brilliant, Turk style ( sort of unfinished ) or several different hybrid type appearances. Then there are the various lathing styles, again Traditional, Tight or fine or none at all. I have a freind who will only purchase Traditional finish cymbals The type of finish the Zildjian A line has. He hates cleaning his cymbals so he will not purchase a brilliant finish. I'm just the opposite Giving that soundwise all things being equal I will choose a brilliant finish over a traditional finish. I just prefer my Cymbals to be shiny. Don't get me wrong I have plenty of Traditional finish Cymbals, Lately I have been adding some Diril Cymbals to my collection The D series which I love is only available in Traditional finish. Now there Shiny series is the D series in a brilliant finish Reffering back to my earlier statement If I'm looking at 2 Diril's of equal status I will choose the brilliant over the traditional. Just wondering what everyones take is on the appearance of a cymbal and your descion to buy or not to buy ? T. Cymbals & Snares

I formerly never cared what my cymbals looked like until I discovered Groove Juice cymbal cleaner. You just spray it on, and hose it off. No elbow grease required!

Back in the day, I always felt brilliant cymbals sounded different and muted somehow. Of course, I was wrong, I just like a good A Zildjian look because they tend to look the same for years.

I prefer looking "presentable" as opposed to "new and shiny". I prefer to let my playing make the statement.

Cymbals & Snares, I've used Cymbal Wipes for almost 5 years now. All my cymbals are Zildjian.

Remember that no cymbal cleaner is LOGO friendly. So I just give the logos a pass or two.

This product is easy to use. Check out the video.
