Zildjian Scimitar series

I was wondering if scimitar series cymbals are made out of b8 bronze. I ask this because they seem to have a similar "rosy" hue to them. I once tried playing a set of scimitar hihats (they were free). They were in bad shape and seemed to have some type of clear coat on them (what the hell?). Needless to say, they sounded like complete garbage. They didn't have the "rosy" hue but I saw a scimitar ride cymbal the other day (didn't get a chance to play it or even look very closely) and it seemed to have that rosy b8 color. The whole reason that I'm asking is that I like the tonal characteristics of b8 bronze and was thinking about finding a b8 ride cymbal. I feel that b8 bronze really sings when using a brush or being played lightly with sticks. I know that I could easily pick up a Sabian b8 Pro ride but almost all of my cymbals are Sabians of one type or another and I'd like to diversify if possible. Plus, there's a scimitar series ride on ebay right now for an extremely cheap price. Oh, and it looks rosy.

I would just save my money for good cymbals. You can't do anything with a bad one to make it sound better (unlike drums).

Hold out for some used Zildjian A's or Sabian AA's or Paiste 2002s. Buy once - you'll be glad you did.

Re: Zildjian Scimitar series

I already have great cymbals. I use Sabian AAX stage. They are definitely comparable to Zil's Ks or As. I just like the sound of b8 bronze when played with brushes or lightly with sticks.

But with that said, there is NO WAY IN HELL that I am going to buy a cymbal without playing it first so I'm gonna forget about the one on ebay. Screw that.
