This is true of the live drum battles. When one drummer compliments the other with a response of talent. But within a forum, each drummer shows his stuff and the members decide who wins. I remember the drum battles from the fifties and sixties. And that's where the showmanship took place.
There is no comparison today with the yester-years. Uless as I said, it's done live on the stage. You do however did bring out a gentleman's point of view.
