Question loss of control

I am really having a hard time keeping steady time at faster speeds double bassing. I have played certain songs in the past running 16ths on the pedals but it seems that about one year ago, I lossed my ability to keep up 16ths or trip-lets at speeds over 120. Ive been playing in and out of rock projects for 25 years and just cant seem to get my feet moving to my satisfaction. any suggestions ? when does age become a factor ? frustraded at 45......

Re: loss of control

I'm pushing 60 this year and as we get older, we need to try different techniques. I've been playing drums since I was 8.

What has helped me is the relaxed method. If you consider the old famous drummers, you'll notice that they have changed their ways of playing drums.

Even with the Moeller Method, it starts out by telling drummers to relax from the very beginning.

I've seen drummer like Neil Peart and Ginger Baker change from the early days to today and observed the way they have changed in their styles and methods of drumming.

So yeah, it has to do with age and technique. If you check out some old sixties vids of Neil or Ginger, and then see some vids of them playing in older vids, you will see what I'm talking about.

Here's one example:

I hope this helps,
