First of all, thanks for your compliments.
To answer your question, yes, I am left handed and play in an open-handed manner on the drum kit. I made the decision many years ago to switch to open-handed playing - only just in the past 5 years of my playing that I have almost reached ambidexterity with my hands.
Four way independence is another matter, however. You can never woodshed enough and, ideally, to woodshed every day is a worthy goal. There are several avenues in the exploration of rhythm that I've been exploring: polyrhythms in 3 to 2, 4 to 3, and 5 to 4 relationships & single/double sticking combinations. This ties into what I call
The Bongo Method.
BTW, the drums I play are PDP (Drum Workshop) with bongos, djembe, dumbek,
LP micro snare, and an array of bells/sundry.
Paiste,
Zildjian, and
Sabian cymbals to round out the toy box.
Thanks again !
Best Regards,
Bongo
