I would end it with the sequence that builds to about 3:58 or so. You drained all the energy out when you stopped that pattern in favour of 4 boring flams. If you're really looking for criticism I'd say generally you did that same thing throughout the solo, executing a really cool pattern and then stopping for a beat or so before you moved into another one. I'd work on interesting transitions if I were you to keep the energy flowing and building. If you need pauses, maybe try choked cymbal crashes because they sound interesting.
I think it's easier to turn the snare strainer on quickly if it's at the left side of the drum instead of right in front of you...just a thought. |
Ya I did really drain the energy on this solo at the end, but I think I did better on my latest version in my last post. I agree about the transitions as well, I need to work on not just stringing the rhythms together. And as for the snare strainer, I keep it in the center because otherwise I end up hitting with my knees when I do double bass work
