Hey guys,
I uploaded a small drum solo I did for a church gig during practice. Let me know what you guys think. Some pointers and tips would be nice too. Check it out! http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...34269378541832
Just so you know, the song is called "Your Grace is Enough" by Chris Tomlin and I'm playing on a 6-piece Pearl Export. It doesn't sound too bad.
shame the band sux... think about blocking your phrasing. In blocking I mean make it a story with definition. so first phrase.... then second phrase. etc.
I admire your determination with a band that sounds terrible....
A solo is when all other instruments go quiet. Then the band supports you... you solo and return to he groove and sound.
Technically Not really a solo because the rest of the band and singers are still going, but it sounded good to me. You also seem to be really enjoying yourself. Playing in church can be pretty demanding trying to do enough different music every week to keep it fresh, the band did sound like it needed some work. Since I've switched to drums (from Guitar or Bass) with our praise band the band still sounds good but its the drummer that needs work. Hopefully you can bring the rest of the band up to your level.
