Bad videos of me playing!

The lighting and sound are really bad......also there's a lot of lag. My girlfriend wanted videos of me playing so feel free to say what you will . I played some blast beats in my random battering for lastditch .

hey man, your blasts sound clean and pretty fast.R u 1 footing or 2 footing those?Yeah,it can be tough getting a really good video.Thanx for posting these man!Have you tried to apply that triplet feel to your blasting?Overall you have some great foot speed and the faster you play the better it sounds.Slow down a bit more often and really get the feel for playing in the pocket at a slower tempo. It will help everything come together and you will have more licks to bust out when playing real fast.

Blast Beats

Ever since I've started drumming I've always gone fast. You are right I do need to slow some things down, but I think I just got so used to playing in a thrash/death metal band that to me it didn't even seem like I was going that fast. Keep in mind I just kinda was messing around and wasn't sure of what to play.

For the blast beats I almost always alternate my left and right hand and use my double pedal in the same manner. I normally do my blast beats as 16th or 32nd notes on bass and try to hit my snare with every beat or every other beat on the snare.

I thought you played very well. You look totally relaxed. In the first video, I did wonder what that right hand pinky was doing wobbling around. lol Just teasing.
nice work.

I don't know what it is with my darn pinkies. Both of them do that!

Thanks for the constructive criticism!

I think I'm gonna start a pinkie thread.Pinkie or no pinkie. That is the question.I think it is a subconscious balance deally.I see it alot and usaully the pinkie is at attention when a drummer is flying through break neck snare riffs.hahaha.

Hahaha, a pinkie thread would be funny. I think I leave my pinkie out when I play so I get more rebound from the hit.

I tried this theory today and it seemed as though when I tucked it in I wasn't getting the response I wanted, but when that pinkie is out I felt that I got a better response and rebound from the stick.

That's a no-no

Stndrums--I don't know if a thread about leaving your pinkie out is a good idea. Last time I left my pinkie out on a bandstand, the sheriff made me put it back.

Your right, If I did though it would have to be worded very carefully.

pretty cool dude... the problem with the pinkie out thing is the stick has a less than desirable tone and you do lose control and speed from this techinique.....

I have been very lucky to have taught drums and the most common correction is the pinkie thing.

My solution is every time I see the pinkie out , I reach for the strategically placed box cutter

seems to work
