Cool Here's me!!

To follow on from last thread about my recording techniques, I've posted this test sample I did with it. http://www.esnips.com/doc/ad16bddb-5...a/01-Drum-Test

Unfortunatley, after all my hard work setting the gear up, the band changed their minds at the last minute and decided they didn't want to record yet .

It's a tad scratchy and I'm not entirely on fire with my drumming but you get a good idea of the sound I grabbed and my playing style.

The sample is in two parts. First a jazzy little break to get my appendages moving, then I play a shortened rendition of a song from one of my old bands. I really love this piece for it's versatility and power and some of you may recognise the end beat from Atfaults tune Blacklights.

Anyway, unload your tyrades of critisism uponst me, I can take it. Enjoy and gimme hell.

The kit sounds really great recorded, your playing wasn't bad either. Nice job!! Did you have to muffle the drums to get the toms to sound like that on the recording? Again sounds great!!

Thanx for the responses guys. No I didn't have to muffle the toms or snare. I EQed them a bit on the desk, but ultimately I let as many frequencies through as possible and then chopped them down later with the cubase program.

Hey,cool stuff Slap.Yeah,it sounds pretty tight overall.A better balance between the toms, snare and the cymbals would lend greatly to your recordings. What are you using, overhead condensers? The hats sounds good but the china, ride and crashes are kinda lost in the mix.I want my snare and kix to be the forefront of the drum sound.Right now its your toms.Just some creative criticism, great playing man,dbl bass is kickin!
