Re: Best Drummers Of All Time!!!

Pretty cool video, although I think I would only rank about 4 of those guys in my personal top 10...
I have almost the exact same kit The Rev has in that video, although he is probably my least favorite of all of those guys!

Re: Best Drummers Of All Time!!!

Mr. Peach TX, very nice kit and thanks for the complement. I had my son take the pics, but no areal pics on mine. Anyway I'll get my own areal pics, but the setup I have is used by me and my son 22 still in college, who started 5 years ago and plays Industrial Rock. No I'm not contesting you, after all this is about a gentleman's complement.
I couldn't make out the brand on yours but the logo tag looks familiar.
Your pics are a better shot than mine, but then again, I guess I'll have to get a step ladder to really show a good shot, and get my older son who is a pro at shooting pics.
Now I'll have to take my kit out of the SKB cases after the renovation is completed with sound proofing (my wife complains about the loud drumming), which will be very soon.

I have a Gretsch USA custom 6 ply rosewood finish. It's an 8 piece kit complimented with a Ludwig 18x16 floor tom (I didn't like the sound of the 18 inch gretsch).
A double Gibraltar curved rack system plus some extra hardware.
I hope I'm not boring you, but as a drum lover ( no not that way) sense of hum there, I'll give you a description anyway.

Gretsch Drums with GTS suspension
2- Bass 16x20
7x8 tom
8x10 tom
9x12 tom
14x16 tom
5x14 wood snare
4x14 steel snare

Ludwig
18x16 floor tom

Zildjian
Avedis New Beat Hi Hat 14" (Mitch Mitchell's Favorite, may he rest in peace)
Avedis Custom Sizzle Ride 20"
Avedis Medium thin crash 16"
Avedis Custom Splash 12"
Avedis Custom Splash 8"
Avedis Custom Crash Ride 18"
Oriental China Trash 16"
Oriental China Trash 14"
Oriental China Trash 12"

Kicks
2 DW 7000 (My preference)
DW 9002 double kick (My sons preference)

Hope to add a set of Roto Drums and a 10" Zildjian Splash (suggested by slingerland59) .
I play free style rock, jazz and many other styles.

Re: Best Drummers Of All Time!!!

Thanks Tainojim for the compliments!!!
My set is a PDP LXE (before they labeled them as Platinum) with a PDP rack, Zildjian A Customs all around, with a Roland SPD-20 with Roland kick trigger.
Your Gretsch USA customs are ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL man!!!
BTW I just got the aerial shot by standing on my throne and I almost busted my butt doing it!

Re: Best Drummers Of All Time!!!

Do you know the drummer from the band "POCO"?
It's George Lawrence, from Gerogesdrumshop.com. Look him up in the forum's members list.

I don't get paid for giving George a free plug. "Wait, that didn't come out right". ("JOKE", I don't want to get sued").

This kit was originally displayed at the 2005 NAMM Exhibition as an 8 pcs kit. I was looking for a kit at the time when George had already gotten the kit to sell at his shop. I got in touch with him and told him that I wanted the kit with an extra bass drum and a thin 4" steel snare.

I bought the kit before it got to the shop and I had to wait quite a while for it. He had to get the second bass custom made from Gretsch to match the kit. That took additional months to get it from Gretsch.

Since Gretsch doesn't sell to the public. To make sure that the kit got home in good condition, I had them shipped in SKB cases.

It's amazing that a 20" bass drum sounds like a 24" bass.

Go to Gretschdrums.com and see how their made. The original company moved from Brooklyn, N.Y. just about 1/2 mile from where I live.

Yup George Lawrence stepped into the band after long time POCO drummer George Grantham had a stroke during a gig. I think that was '03 or '04 if my memory serves me.
